
Outreach Ambassadors
WiSTEM Outreach Ambassadors serve as representatives of WiSTEM and participate in a wide range of activities and initiatives, including serving as presenters, facilitators, and hosts at a variety of school-wide events on campus or in the community, as well as panelists, event coordinators, guest speakers, small group facilitators, leadership retreat facilitators, tour guides, student liaisons, outreach event participants and other roles for WiSTEM. This is a volunteer position.
What do Outreach Ambassadors do?
WiSTEM Outreach Ambassadors participate in a variety of outreach opportunities, such as:
- Facilitating hands-on STEM activities.
- Judging, grading, and proctoring for STEM fairs and expositions.
- Speaking on STEM Role Model Panels with facilitated discussion and Q&A.
- Leading UT Austin STEM Campus Tours.
- Participating in leadership training.
- Supporting University recruitment with prospective high school student events and engagements.
- Introducing STEM to pre-college students in an accessible and exciting way.

- Earn a K-12 STEM Outreach Digital Microcredential.
- Have priority for any WiSTEM paid outreach positions, including STEM Girl Day CREW and Summer Camp CREW roles.
What are the Requirements for Students?
In addition to being a degree-seeking UT Austin student in good academic standing, all WiSTEM Outreach Ambassadors must:
- Complete an online, asynchronous WiSTEM Outreach Ambassador course on Canvas.
- Attend one in-person orientation (held on a Sunday early in the fall semester).
- Serve in a volunteer or paid position at STEM Girl Day at UT Austin.
- Volunteer and participate in a minimum number of campus, community, or virtual STEM-related activities or initiatives during the academic year.
- Be responsive and frequently communicate with the WiSTEM Outreach Program Coordinator and other Outreach Ambassadors.
- Additional requirements and current year orientation dates are included in the registration form.
